Immediately, the sounds of the espresso machine, a newspaper flipping, and the barista’s friendly chatter make you feel at ease. You order a coffee, which in Italy means an espresso. Actually, you say, can you make it macchiato. And after 25-seconds of perfect extraction time, and the silky-frothed milk pouring into the small cup of creamy espresso, creating a golden brown crown that rises towards your eyes, you taste your favorite coffee.

It is this sensation that I wanted to bring to America. Of all the coffees I tasted in my many years living in Italy, it was HARDY coffee, with its Milanese sophistication, that compelled me, a writer, to take on a work unfamiliar to me. I now proudly sell what I believe is the best espresso in the world.
